Alistair Shanks
Since 1994, Alistair Shanks has been a dedicated practitioner and educator in the healing arts of tai chi, qigong and taoist breathing. Alistair brings a keen enthusiasm for the unique life lessons that can be learned from caring for the dying. He has been actively involved with Zen Hospice Project since 2004 as a bedside caregiver and volunteer training facilitator.
Alistair is currently is an adjunct faculty member of the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and serves as a Buddhist chaplain, teaching meditation at San Francisco General Hospital and in the San Francisco County Jail system. A passionate bass guitarist, Alistair has been exhilarating crowds for over 25 years with San Francisco's one and only hardcore polka band: Polkacide.
